This month’s Q&A is with Melanie Alford of Soulistic  – Orpington’s premier reflexology and facial rejuvenation massage therapy service.

Tell us about your business….

I am a reflexologist and holistic therapist based in Orpington, Kent.  I qualified over 5 years ago as a reflexologist and specialise in spinal reflexology, hot stone reflexology, maternity reflexology and I am also trained in facial rejuvenation massage, a fabulous facial massage which boosts your complexion and the suppleness and appearance of the facial area.

I treat both adults and children and am happy to travel to you, if easier, but mainly work from my treatment room at my home in Orpington.

Why do your customers choose you?

I care about my client’s well-being, and want to make a difference to their health.  When I first meet a client I carry out a medical questionnaire which focuses not only on health but lifestyle too, diet and stress are both a consideration.

During my treatments I use only the finest products for my clients; my handmade treatment wax and Neal’s Yard products which smell divine and are paraben free and organic.

My treatment room is always lit with candles and music plays softly creating the perfect ambiance for a relaxing treatment – however, some of my clients prefer silence.  I work with you to provide your perfect treatment and tailor each session to each individual.

I am a fully insured member of the Association of Reflexologists, which means I am committed to continually updating my training and studies.  Research and new courses feature every year for me so I can continue this membership.  This year I am hoping to train in Indian Head Massage, which I think will be a perfect end to a facial or a wonderful stand-alone treatment.

What inspires you to be passionate about your business?

My clients…  I love meeting new people and am passionate about making a difference to your health and wellbeing.  I will continue to learn new practices and about different lifestyles and diets which can make a difference to your health.  I subscribe to magazines and various social media sites to keep abreast of news and topics that may be of interest to the clients I treat.

How does being part of PIB help your business?

Being part of the small business network group PIB has been fantastic for myself and my business.  It’s been great to share ideas and when I have promotions or a new blog our members are happy to share with their clients and social network base, which increases my profile within the community.  The monthly meetings are a great way of meeting like-minded business owners and it’s been a real benefit to me personally to have met such a great group of people.

If you would like to know more about any of the treatments I offer then please get in touch.
